OUR LOCATIONS
One of our core competencies is the ability to develop and implement innovative and efficient manufacturing procedures. Gimborn operates with two state-of-the-art production facilities in Germany. Snacks and treats are made in the facility in Emmerich am Rhein (North Rhine Westphalia, Germany), and cat litter in the facility in Kelheim (Bavaria, Germany). Gimborn has invested heavily in both facilities in recent years.
EMMERICH PRODUCTION FACILITY
-
The main products made here are snack pastes. The high-quality paste production process begins with the preparation of an emulsion-like dispersion of liquid and powdered raw materials in a powerful homogeniser. Manufacturing commences with the preparation of the mixture of different types of powdered raw materials that then undergo compression in a press machine.
-
The dispersion material can be temporarily stored depending on the needs of the different production facilities. The pastes are then used to fill aluminium tubes or undergo wrapping in plastic laminate.
-
Gimborn has been active in the production of compressed powders ever since entering the pet food market. Today, Gimborn is able to manufacturer a broad spectrum of compressed powders in a range of different forms (tablets, pellets, etc.) colours, sizes, and surface structures. These have real benefits to meet the different needs of pets as well as also being suitable as treats.
-
Manufacturing commences by preparing a mixture of different types of powdered raw materials that then undergo compression in a press machine.
-
The compressed powder end product is stored as a bulk good and packed using a bag-form filling and sealing machine (Doy-Pack and sealed bagging). The compressed powder can also be filled into packs of round tins (cartons) in different forms and sizes.
KELHEIM PRODUCTION FACILITY
-
Our production facility for cat litter is one of the most energy-efficient and state-of-the-art facilities in the whole of Europe. The production process is illustrated as follows.
-
First, wet clay bentonite is transported to the facility from a mine located nearby.
-
Loaders transport the raw clay onto a conveyor in a comminution/shredding machine.
-
The shredded clay is loaded into a rotary dryer together with moist clay dust.
-
The cat litter granules are filled either into paper or plastic sacks (PE and PP) and then undergo automated palletisation; the sacks weigh between 5–20 kg. From 2012 to 2015.
